"Testing For the Web (Accessibility and Security Edition)" by Jeff McWherter
Testing has become a hot topic in the software industry in the last few years. You may be asking yourself what security and accessibility have in common.and you should come to this talk to find out! In this session, Jeff will discuss best practices for making accessible and secure web applications, and how to best approach these two distinct types of testing.
About Jeff: Jeff McWherter is the Director of Development at Gravity Works Design and Development. Jeff graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Telecommunications, and has thirteen years of professional experience in software development. He is a founding member and current Vice President of the Greater Lansing Users for .NET (GLUG.net). He enjoys profiling code, applying design patterns, finding obscure namespaces, and long walks in the park. His lifelong interest in programming began with a Home Computing Magazine in 1983, which included an article about writing a game called Boa Alley in BASIC. Jeff currently lives in a farming community near Lansing, MI. When he is not in front of the computer he enjoys rock and ice climbing with his smart and beautiful wife; which leads to his favorite activity of all, road trips.

The meeting will be held in room C-228 of the College of Engineering Building on WMU's Parkview Campus (
driving directions). The building is organized into 7 sections, lettered A-G, where Section A is closest to US-131 and Section D is the central hub. The meeting room is on the the second floor in a secondary hallway near where sections C and D meet. If you are coming from the west parking ramp and are walking toward section D, this secondary hallway will be on your left, just before you get to section D. The room is one of the computer labs in the corner.
