1st Presentation - Building an OLAP Cube - Andy Catlin
In this session, Andy will walk through the process of identifying key performance indicators and performing a dimensional analysis. He will then demonstrate building an OLAP Cube "Soup to Nuts" from data in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. You will also learn some tips and best practices for making your first OLAP development effort a success.
2nd Presentation - Browsing an OLAP Cube - Andy Catlin
Andy will show the basics for browsing cubes, looking at tools like Microsoft Data Analyzer and ProClarity. He will also talk about how to build OLAP solutions with Microsoft Reporting Services, Sharepoint, and Microsoft's new Balanced Scorecard Accelerator. Andy will then discuss the criteria that are most important when selecting a cube browser for your project. And you will learn the key differences between balanced scorecards and digital dashboards.
Andy Catlin - Bio
Prior to moving to Grand Haven in November 2003, Andy Catlin co-founded, then sold New York-based Microsoft OLAP gold partner Citigate Hudson. He has helped organizations like the National Football League, Microsoft, TV Guide Magazine, Reuters, and Nestle Purina with OLAP training and implementations. Andy is a national conference speaker, most recently talking about OLAP and Sharepoint at VS Live in San Francisco. He is on the board of directors of the New York Software Industry Association.
